Meet Pastor Dillman

We are so glad you have taken a moment to check us out. The Place of Refuge (formerly named First Assembly) has been a major part of the spiritual landscape of this community for more than 60 years. I (Pastor Mike) am currently serving as only the third pastor in that period of time. The Place of Refuge is affiliated with the Assemblies of God, one of the largest denominations in the world seeking to flow in the full expression of the Holy Spirit.

We maintain a full-service Prayer Center, staffed to receive needs phoned in from around the world and here at home. We have 12 prayer stations at which one can sit and literally pray the heart of God around the world. The Prayer Center is the heartbeat of our church.

On Wednesday nights you will find the church alive with a thriving AWANA program for children, Horizon Young Adults, Men’s & Women’s Bible studies, Spanish studies and a staffed nursery. All the activities are designed to meet the needs of every member of the family. With the exception of The Pulse Youth Ministry (which meets Thursday nights at 6:30pm) and Horizon Young Adults (Wednesday nights at 6:30pm), the other studies will be taking a summer break beginning June and returning in August.

Preaching the Gospel to the ends of the earth is not just a slogan. In fact we give tens of thousands of dollars every year that represent nearly every corner of the earth, including our city.

We are blessed to have a School of Leadership Training here where young people can serve and be trained in preparation for ministry. We are currently taking applications for the Fall 2014 semester.

Some of the community activities the church is known for include the Annual Christmas Eve Breakfast and Gifts for Children, The Civic Appreciation Luncheon at City Hall, Remembering 9-11, and the annual Not Forgotten Memorial Day Weekend Events held at Woodward Park making sure all our troops are honored and always remembering the fallen. The Traveling Tribute (which holds the names of all who have fallen since 9-11) was also designed and built from the vision of this house.

The church also owns and operates Manteca Christian Pre-School. They have been serving this community for over twenty-five years.

Please feel free to call our office for additional information or questions regarding our church. We would consider it an honor to have you visit and look forward to meeting you in the near future.
